Submission Preparation Checklist for Research Papers

All submissions of Research Articles (including those for Conference Proceedings and Volumes Dedicated to Our Distinguished Peers), and Letters to the Editor must meet the following requirements.

The submission must meet the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

The submission must not have been previously published, nor is it currently at another journal for consideration.

Papers should be submitted as PDF files and, if accepted, then the final version must be in a LaTeX (preferred) or another standard TeX format with all figures and non-standard inputs included that can be compiled without modification on any platform using standard TeX installations.

The paper itself must include the following.

  • Title
  • A letter to the Editor must have words Letter to the Editor added above the title.
  • A paper for a conference proceedings must have words (name of the conference) Conference Proceedings added above the title.
  • A paper for a volume dedicated to our distinguished peers must have words Volume Dedicated to (full name) added above the title.
  • Authors' names
    • Coauthors can be listed in any order but the standard practice in mathematics is to use alphabetical ordering.
  • Authors' affiliation
  • Authors' email
  • Authors' mailing address at the very end (this is optional)
  • Abstract
  • Keywords (in a footnote of the first page; this is optional)
  • Mathematics Subject Classification (in a footnote of the first page)
  • Funding support statement (in a footnote of the first page or in the section of Acknowledgments; this is optional)
  • All tables and figures must be numbered and labeled
  • Permission must be obtained to publish all photos, datasets, or other third-party materials provided with this submission
  • Acknowledgments (this is optional)
  • Author contribution statement (this is optional)
  • If artificial intelligence was used at any step during the research or while writing the paper, it must be explained.
  • References
    • The reference list must appear at the end of the paper, but before potential Appendices, under the heading References.
    • The reference list must be in alphabetical order according to the surname of the author or the first coauthor.
    • Standard journal name abbreviations must be used, see Abbreviations of Names of Serials.
      • Example for a journal article (use sentence case):
        [1] H. Schwarz, L. Fejér, and M. Fekete, Landau's Kunstgriff for Bernstein's inequality, Mat. Sb., 10:25 (1917), pp. 13-22, DOI 10.1007/s00365-014-9255-1.
      • Example for a book (use title case):
        [2] G. Pólya and G. Szegő, The Seeds of the Communist Manifesto in Karl Weierstrass' Opus Magnum, 28th ed., Stanford University Press, Redwood City, 2068.
    • References should be cited in the text using Arabic numerals enclosed in square brackets (e.g., [1], [2, 5], or [7–9]). When referring to a specific result within a cited work, authors should provide precise citation details whenever possible (e.g., [4, Theorem 1.2, p. 47]). If an author's name is mentioned in the text, the reference number should immediately follow the author's name (e.g., Genghis Khan [18, Lemma 8, p. 1227] proved...).
    • All references must have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
    • Only works that are cited in the text should be included; padding the reference list with uncited works is not permitted.

N.B. It is unnecessary to submit separately key words, phrases, abstracts, TeX files, etc.

N.B. Submission letters are optional and please include them only if you have any special requests.

N.B. For a Letter to the Editor, for a paper for a conference proceeding, and for a paper for a volume dedicated to our distinguished peers please include a submission letter so we would know how to treat it.
